Spirit Keepers Projects THE CREATIVE REFLECTION JOURNEY: Academic Advisors Reflect on the Meaning of Their Work at the University of Wisconsin Facilitated by Gail Jacob, 2001 Sponsored by the Academic Affairs-Advising Services at the University of Wisconsin
In this project, the staff of the Academic Affairs-Advising Services had the opportunity to reflect on the deeper meaning of their work. The focus was on using creative means such as writing stories, sharing images and creating quilt squares to generate a visual and written narrative about the nature of working in advising programs. The staff was organized in small teams to create the individual squares. The larger quilt incorporates the themes that emerged from the process in its overall design and integration of the individual squares. It provides lasting images of the vision and sense of mission embedded in this work. It currently hangs in the reception area of the Student Advising Offices and creates a welcoming atmosphere for students using the services.
